Painter and printer, Desmet was born in Casablanca on the 31st of July, 1950.

He made studies in publicity drawing and illustration in Paris from 1968 to 1971. He then travelled extensively throughout the Middle East and Western Africa from 1972 to 1975. He was initiated to prints at the workshop of Simone and Henri Jean starting in 1986.
